Inside The All-New ZEON XD

A short from Warn on the design and performance changes that define the XD generation, and the platform the 14-S is built on.

How To Install Winch Rope On A Warn ZEON

Warn's guide to spooling rope onto a ZEON drum and seating it in the patented rope anchor. Your 14-S arrives with the Spydura Pro rope fitted, so keep this for the first re-spool or a rope replacement.

Warn HUB Wireless Receiver

The HUB receiver is built into this winch's control pack. Warn's video covers pairing the app, reading live status, and operating the winch from a distance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Do I actually need 14,000 lb?

If you drive a 3/4-ton or 1-ton, or you carry a camper, yes. Warn's sizing guidance is roughly 1.5 times the vehicle's loaded weight, and a loaded heavy-duty pickup can be 9,000 lb before you add anything. On a mid-size truck or a Jeep the 14-S is more winch than the vehicle can use, and the 10-S or 12-S will spool faster for the same money.

Is it bigger than the 12-S? Will my mount still fit?

No, and yes. The 14-S shares the ZEON XD footprint: 23.89" long, 10.52" tall, on the standard 10" x 4.5" 4-bolt pattern. It drops into the same bumpers, plates and mounts as the 10-S and 12-S. What does change is the load your mount and frame have to carry, so confirm the mount is rated for it.

How fast does it pull?

26.1 ft/min with no load and 2.1 ft/min at the full 14,000 lb rating. High-capacity winches trade speed for pull, which is exactly what the 213:1 reduction is doing. Motor draw is 65 amps free and 482 amps at rated pull, so a healthy 650 CCA battery and a running engine are not optional during a recovery.

Why does it only carry 80' of rope?

Drum capacity. The XD drum is 3.15" in diameter and 9.0" long across the whole line, and 3/8" rope at 14,000 lb needs the layer count kept sensible: pulling power drops as the rope stacks up, so the outer layers of a longer rope would give you less capacity, not more. If you need more reach, use a tree strap and a snatch block rather than a longer line.

Can I control it from the cab?

Yes. The HUB wireless receiver is built into the control pack, so the Warn HUB app gives control from over 100' away plus live status. The ruggedized 12' corded remote is in the box as a backup.

How is it protected against water and salt?

The complete unit, not just the motor, is rated IP68 for submersion and IP69K for high-pressure spray using automotive-grade O-ring seals. The finish and fasteners are specified to 408 hours of salt spray, and the gear end and control pack sit behind metal armor rather than plastic covers.
