How the 1Key UltraLock System Works

A step-by-step look from Weather Guard at what the 1Key UltraLock actually does: how the cylinder accepts a new code, why the red push button retracts when the box is locked, and how the latch pulls the lid down against the seal. Worth two minutes before you set the box up.

How to Code Your 1Key UltraLock Lock

Weather Guard's official walkthrough for coding the lock so this box opens with the same key as the rest of your Weather Guard boxes. Follow it once when the box arrives and you can stop carrying a separate key for every lid on the truck.

Protect Your Gear and Your Reputation

Weather Guard's own film on why a working truck earns its keep from what is bolted to it. It frames the boxes, racks and bed equipment as the difference between arriving ready and arriving short, which is the thing a customer actually notices. It is a short manufacturer-made overview rather than a product demo, so watch it for the why rather than the how. If you are outfitting a truck from scratch it is a useful place to start before you pick individual part numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

What bed size do I need for the 184-5-04?

This box is 41" long, the versatile short size, so it fits full-size trucks with rail to spare and fits most mid-size and compact pickups. It mounts on one bed side rail, so measure your usable rail length and confirm clearance behind the cab before ordering.

What is the finish on the 184-5-04?

It is aluminum diamond plate finished in Gloss Black ARMOR TUF powder coat for a deep, glossy blacked-out look. The powder coat resists chips, salt and fading, and it pairs well with black trim and blacked-out trucks.

Who is the gloss black finish for?

Gloss black is the pick for a blacked-out build, and it ties in with black wheels, black trim and black bumpers. It shows a little more dust and fingerprints than matte, but the deep shine reads as a premium upgrade.

Does it require drilling to install?

No. The box ships with under-rail clamps and hardware, so it mounts on top of either bed side rail without drilling into your truck. Most installs take about 20 to 30 minutes.

How does it lock?

It uses the Weather Guard 1Key UltraLock, a tamper-resistant design that pairs a keyed cylinder with a recessed red push-button that sits flush when locked. The 1Key system also lets you code multiple boxes on a truck or an entire fleet to a single key.

Which side of the bed does it mount on?

You can mount it on the driver or passenger side rail, whichever suits your loading and access. It sits low on the rail, so it keeps the bed floor open and your rear view clear either way.

Great Addition to the Work Truck

I purchased two of these for my son who is a welder and needs to carry a lot of tools for work. He loves them. They look great and have doubled the capacity of tools he is able to carry.

Great Box

This is one of three boxes that I bought for my new truck. I bought these same boxes 20 years ago (aluminum plated) for my first work truck and they're still working great. I through equipment and inventory in them all day everyday, stand on them and leave them out in the weather and still they look great. I'm looking forward to getting them same use out of this box.

Nice boxes

They seem to be nice boxes. I have had them mounted for about a week now so may be slightly early to give a overall review

Professional boxes

These boxes are awesome! Easy to open and shut. No pounding on the lid to make sure it seals. Just pull down on the lid gently and it locks and seals with ease. We take our trucks through a high pressure car wash and there’s never a drop of water in the box. Also no dust, grass, or leaves gets in like some of the less expensive boxes we have. I know these boxes are way more expensive than most, but they’re worth it if you don’t want what you store in it wet, rusted, corroded, or stolen.
