Weather Guard Defender Series Truck Rack Install

Weather Guard's Defender Series install video shows the lightweight aluminum truck rack going onto a pickup with no drilling required. You see the compression clamps grip the bed rails and the crossbars set up to carry ladders, lumber and pipe, rated to about 800 pounds. It makes clear how quickly the rack mounts and how the ladder stops keep a load in place. It is a helpful look at the rack in place before you buy or install your own.

Weather Guard Steel Truck Rack Install

This official Weather Guard guide shows how to install a steel truck rack for hauling ladders, lumber and long loads over the bed. You watch the rack mount to the bed and get tightened down, with the load bars set for ladders and pipe. It gives a clear picture of how the rack goes on and how much it adds to a truck's hauling capability. It is the manufacturer's own reference for setting up the rack correctly.

Best Upgrade for Your Truck

This is Weather Guard's own brand film about outfitting a working pickup, built on the idea that the truck should already be loaded and organized before the day starts. It puts the bed and rail equipment in the context of a real work day rather than a spec sheet. Watch it if you are still deciding how much storage a truck actually needs. It is the clearest short look at how Weather Guard boxes, racks and drawer units are meant to work together on one vehicle, and it comes straight from the manufacturer rather than a reseller.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Will the 11908 fit my truck?

It is a universal aluminum headache rack for full-size pickups such as the F-150, Silverado and Sierra 1500 through 3500, Ram 1500 through 3500, Tundra and Titan. The mounting brackets and hardware are included, so you do not need a separate kit. Confirm your make and model on the Weather Guard fitment guide and measure clearance behind the cab first. It is not made for mid-size or compact trucks.

What makes the half bar different from the other racks?

The half bar fills the outer sides of the frame with horizontal bars and leaves the center open, so you get cab protection while keeping a clear view through the rear window. It gives more coverage than the Open Frame rack but a better rear sight line than the full Louvered or Hex panels, which is handy for backing up and watching your load.

Does it come with the mounting hardware or do I need a separate kit?

It comes with everything to mount it. This aluminum rack includes its bed-rail brackets and hardware, unlike the older steel Protect-A-Rail cab protectors that require a separate vehicle-specific installation kit. Most installs run about 30 to 45 minutes with basic hand tools.

Can I add work lights to it?

Yes. The rack has a built-in accessory channel that accepts Weather Guard light brackets, a cargo stop and tie-down accessories, all sold separately, so you can add work lights or a beacon over the cab without drilling into the rack.

What color and finish is it?

The 11908 is finished in matte black ARMOR TUF powder coat over corrosion-resistant aluminum. The low-gloss black resists chips, fading and corrosion, hides dust and fingerprints, and gives a clean blacked-out look behind the cab.

Is it covered by a warranty?

Yes. The 11908-52-01 is backed by a Weather Guard Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
