Description & Fitment
The ATB A-IB51 is an aluminum in-frame box for semi-trucks that sits in the frame for storage you reach from the back of the truck. It has a .125 smooth aluminum body, a diamond tread plate lid that doubles as a step and a stainless steel continuous hinge. A padlockable adjustable latch secures the lid, and ATB includes the M3101F clamp mounting kit. It is made in Blanchard, North Dakota.
Fitment & Compatibility
How to choose: measure the open space in the frame where the box will mount (the depth available and the height you can allow) and confirm you have room for the 24" width. Pick a height of 8", 10" or 13", then the depth.
The 13" tall boxes (part numbers with N) have a notch; the version table gives its size along with the lid opening and weight for each part number.
The lid takes a padlock; ATB builds the T-handle lock version as the A-IB52.

Will it fit my truck?
ATB designs the A-IB51 for in-frame mounting on semi-trucks and offers several heights and depths to suit different frame and body layouts. Measure the frame opening and choose the size that fits it; contact us if you want a second check.
How do I measure for an in-frame box?
Measure the open space in the frame where the box will go: the depth available, the height you can allow, and the 24" width the box needs. Check the notch size on the 13" tall boxes against your frame, then pick the size that fits.
Does it come with a mounting kit?
Yes. ATB includes its M3101F clamp mounting kit, and the box has predrilled holes. ATB says to follow the truck maker's manual for mounting and never to drill the top or bottom flange of the frame.
What lock does it use?
The A-IB51 uses an adjustable latch that takes a padlock, and ATB includes its padlockable lock. If you would rather have a T-handle lock, ATB builds the same box as the A-IB52.
Can I stand on the lid?
ATB designed the channel brace reinforced lid to serve as a platform and says the box is a good place to stand when you change trailer connections.
What can I store in it?
ATB suggests in-frame boxes for chains, binders, straps and personal gear, kept close to the back of the truck.
Installation
- 1/2" ratchet wrench

Here's the short version. Follow ATB's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact positions and hardware.
- Check all parts against the parts list and make sure there is enough room on the frame for the box.
- Set the box on the frame where it will mount to confirm the fit. The box has predrilled holes for mounting.
- Remove the box, cut the foam rubber strips to the box depth and apply them to the box, then cut holes in the rubber with a utility knife so the bolts can pass through.
- Insert the four bolts with washers from the box side and attach a mounting clamp loosely to each bolt so the clamps can turn aside.
- Set the box back on the frame, rotate all four clamps into position under the frame and tighten them lightly, checking that the box sits secure, level and tight to the frame.
- Tighten all bolts securely. Never drill the top or bottom flange of the frame, weld brackets to it, or mount through the top or back of the box.

Inspect on delivery
Check the box when the freight arrives, before the driver leaves: look over the lids, doors, corners and welds for dents, scratches or shipping damage. Note any damage on the delivery receipt and send us photos. Check it as soon as it arrives.- Look for crushed ends, punctures or tears in the carton.
- If something looks wrong, take photos of the box and the parts (and if a driver asks you to sign, note the damage on the receipt).
- Open the box and check the parts against the parts list before you install.
