Description & Fitment
Made to sit on most 2-5/16" gooseneck balls, the Blue Ox BXR2100 fifth wheel hitch is rated to pull 21,000 lb gross with up to 5,000 lb of vertical load on the head. It suits truck owners who already have a gooseneck ball in the bed and want to tow a fifth wheel without adding rails, though a high-rise gooseneck ball is not compatible. It is a two-piece design, a 74 lb base and a 51 lb head, with a funnel-shaped head that guides the kingpin in, full 360° kingpin nesting, front-to-back and side-to-side articulation, and head heights of 17", 18" or 19". The 360° nesting helps prevent a false hookup, a key part of the Blue Ox head design.
Fitment & Compatibility
Choose the right version: BXR2100 is the gooseneck-ball model. For industry standard bed rails, see BXR2410 (24,000 lb) or BXR7200 Super Ride (20,000 lb). If your truck has a factory gooseneck, Blue Ox makes the BXR9009 adapter.
Not included: the gooseneck ball in the truck bed. Blue Ox notes a high-rise gooseneck ball is not compatible with it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit a high-rise gooseneck ball?
No. A high-rise gooseneck ball is not compatible with the BXR2100, per Blue Ox.
What bed clearance should I set?
Blue Ox recommends 6" to 8" between the truck bed and the trailer, with the trailer as level as you can get it.
Will my trailer clear the cab?
Check before towing. Blue Ox prints a clearance check: half the trailer width minus the kingpin set-back, compared with the cab-to-ball distance plus 3-1/2"; a negative result means not enough room.
Do I need anything for a Rota-Flex pin box?
Yes. Blue Ox calls for the BXR9005 lockout kit whenever a Rota-Flex pin box meets its fifth wheel hitch.
Can I use it over a drop-in bed liner?
Blue Ox says a removable liner must come out or be cut so the hitch sits on the bed; spray-in liners are fine.
What if the hitch is in an accident?
Replace it. Blue Ox warns that a crash can cause damage you cannot see.
Installation
- Torque wrench

Here's the short version. Follow Blue Ox's install sheet (below) for the exact positions and hardware.
- Set the hitch base on the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball with the arrow on each side pointing toward the cab.
- Push the two 1/2" x 3-3/8" pins through the bottom holes of the base, fit the lynch pins, and torque the top bolt to 45 ft-lb with a 15/16" socket.
- Hand tighten the cab-side bolt and torque the square head bolt to 100 ft-lb (19mm 12-point socket), then the jam nut to 120 ft-lb (15/16" deep socket).
- Drop the center post of the head into the base with the handle toward the driver side, then fit the 3/4" x 4-1/4" clevis pin with its lanyard and lynch pin.
- Set the head height for 6" to 8" between bed and trailer with the trailer close to level, moving the clevis pin to change it; the pin box may also need adjusting.
- Remove the loose jam nuts, tighten the two 11/16" flange nuts evenly to 54 ft-lb so the center post has no play, then fit and torque the jam nuts to 54 ft-lb.

Blue Ox fifth wheel hitches carry the Blue Ox Original Purchasers Limited Lifetime Warranty, which lasts while the first retail buyer still owns the hitch.- If a part fails from a flaw in material or workmanship in normal use, Blue Ox will repair or replace it once it is returned to the factory, freight prepaid.
- Send Blue Ox the warranty card in the first 30 days after you buy, and keep the original invoice, because a copy of it must go with any claim; a later owner is not covered.
- Not covered: wrong installation, misuse, changes, poor maintenance, accidents, normal wear, paint or rust, and costs such as towing, travel or lost time.
