Features

  • Friction Sway Management: If the trailer starts to push sideways, the loaded bars pivot on the head while the rigid L-brackets press back with friction, and together they damp the swing.
  • Weight on the Front Axle: Bar tension lifts load off the rear of the truck and puts it back on the front tires, so the truck rides flat and keeps its steering and braking feel.
  • Ball Installed From the Box: Blue Ox ships the head with a chrome-plated 2-5/16" ball already fitted: rated 20,000 lb on standard heads and 13,000 lb on the underslung BXW1353.
  • Preset Head Pitch: Blue Ox sets the head pitch at the factory, so after your first hook-up the tilt never needs another adjustment.
  • Caster That Centers the Trailer: Caster designed into the head keeps the trailer tracking back to center behind the truck.
  • Greaseless Bars, Marked Ratings: The bar pivots hold their own grease, and line marks on the end of each bar show its rating, from one line for 600 lb to four for 1,300 lb.

Description & Fitment

The Blue Ox TrackPro pairs weight distribution with friction sway control from rigid L-brackets, in 13 versions for a 2" receiver. Spring bars come rated for 600, 800, 1,000 or 1,300 lb of tongue weight, with gross trailer weight from 6,000 to 13,000 lb, and you pick a 7-, 9- or 11-hole shank or, at 600 and 1,300 lb, an underslung coupler head. Bar tension puts load back on the front tires of the truck so it rides flat and keeps its steering and braking feel, while caster in the head keeps the trailer tracking back to center. Blue Ox ships the head with a chrome-plated 2-5/16" ball already fitted and sets the head pitch at the factory, so the tilt never needs another adjustment after your first hook-up.

Fitment & Compatibility

Choose the right version: match the bar rating to your loaded tongue weight, then the shank to the drop you need: 7-hole BXW0650, BXW0850, BXW1050, BXW1350; 9-hole BXW0851, BXW1051, BXW1351; 11-hole BXW0656, BXW0856, BXW1056, BXW1356. For a coupler under the trailer frame, use BXW0653 (600 lb) or BXW1353 (1,300 lb).

Not included: the receiver hitch on the truck. The ball comes fitted to the head.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the underslung version?

Only if your trailer coupler is welded under the frame. Blue Ox lists the standard head for couplers on top of the frame.

Is there a 2-1/2" receiver TrackPro?

Not in this lineup. Every TrackPro here is a 2" receiver model.

How far back do the L-brackets go?

Blue Ox places them 20" to 25" behind the center of the coupler, the same distance on both sides, with the bar end reaching at least 4" past the bracket plate center.

Will it fit my trailer frame?

Blue Ox writes the TrackPro for trailer frames 3" to 6" tall. Move or remove anything mounted where the brackets sit.

Does my truck sway control need to be off?

If your truck has built-in trailer sway control, Blue Ox points you to the trailer towing section of your owner's manual for how to switch it off.

How high should the ball sit?

Level with the trailer coupler or up to 1" higher. For Ram trucks, Blue Ox points to the Ram owner's manual and suggests setting it about 2" higher.

Installation

Recommended installationProfessional
What's involvedThe shank pins into the receiver with the head bolted to it at ball height, then backing plates and L-brackets bolt to the trailer frame 20" to 25" behind the ball to carry the spring bars
Tools
  • Torque wrench
  • Tape measure
  • 3/4" socket
  • 3/4" wrench
  • 1-1/8" socket
  • 1-1/8" wrench

Here's the short version. Follow Blue Ox's install sheet (below) for the exact positions and hardware.

  1. Park the truck and trailer in a straight line on firm, level ground, check your owner's manual for any air ride or self-leveling setup, and remove the existing receiver hitch.
  2. Slide the shank into the receiver and pin it with the 5/8" x 3" pin and clip.
  3. Level the trailer and measure the coupler, then bolt the head to the shank with the ball level with the coupler or up to 1" higher; torque the 3/4"-10 bolts to 250 ft-lb.
  4. Couple up, mark both sides of the tongue 20" to 25" behind the ball center, and set the backing plates on the marks with the offset toward the front, bolts finger tight.
  5. Put the spring bars in the trunnion with the rating lines facing up and the locking pins in from the inside, check the bar end reaches at least 4" past the plate center, then tighten the 1/2" bolts.
  6. Mount the L-brackets on the backing plates with blue Loctite on the threads and torque the bolts to 78 ft-lb.
