- Rocker Panel Protection: Westin lists rocker panel protection among the R5 features. Each bar mounts along the rocker panel under the doors, where it sits between the panel and road debris, curbs and trail obstacles to help guard the paint and sheet metal from potential damage. - Vehicle-Specific Mounting Brackets: Every R5 kit includes a mount kit made for the listed truck. The brackets bolt to the rocker panel area, and the triangular board shape hides them from view once the bars are on.
- 5" Wide Step Area: Westin gives the R5 a 5" wide step, a flat platform that is easier to find with your foot than a round tube when you climb into a lifted or full-size cab.

- R5 XD and Wheel-to-Wheel Versions: The R5 XD drops the step surface 3" lower than a standard R5. Wheel-to-wheel R5 M-Series bars run from the front wheel well to the rear wheel well, so you get a third step in front of the rear tire for reaching into the bed. Cab-length bars stop at the back of the cab.

- Westin's terms exclude road-hazard damage (gravel, debris), misuse, improper installation, accidents, modifications and neglect; the remedy is repair or replacement.
