This one is for the builder who has already decided what goes on the drum. The ZEON XC 12 bare drum is the winch only, at 12,000 lb of single-line pull, with no rope, no fairlead and no hook in the box. It suits the build where the line is part of the plan rather than an afterthought: a specific synthetic in a specific length, a competition line, or steel because of the ground the truck works on. Everything mechanical is the full premium ZEON XC: a 176:1 reduction through a 3-stage planetary geartrain, a Warn-exclusive low-profile Albright contactor, an automatic six-segment cone brake, IP68 and IP69K sealing throughout, and the large-diameter aluminum-alloy drum carrying Warn's patented rope anchor, which is designed to make fitting your own line straightforward. Because the control pack sits below the top of the tie plate, the whole winch is 22.06" long and 7.83" tall, so a 12,000 lb unit still disappears behind a stubby or hidden mount. Engineered, tested and assembled in Clackamas, Oregon.
What's Included:
Warn ZEON XC 12 winch, 12,000 lb rated line pull, bare drum
Ruggedized corded remote with 12' lead
Mounting hardware kit
Warn owner's manual and installation instructions
NOT included: rope, fairlead and hook are sold separately
Features
Winch Only, at 12,000 lb No rope, no fairlead, no hook. This is the version you buy when the line is a deliberate choice rather than whatever came in the box: a specific synthetic, a specific length, or steel for abrasive ground. Budget for the line, a matching fairlead (hawse for synthetic, roller for steel) and an end fitting when you order.
176:1 Reduction, Full 12,000 lb Capacity The XC 12 pulls 12,000 lb on the first drum layer through a 176:1 reduction and a 3-stage planetary geartrain, at 25.9 ft/min with no load and 3.4 ft/min at rated pull, drawing 72 amps free and 488 amps loaded. Buying bare changes nothing mechanical: this is the same winch as the roped XC 12 and XC 12-S.
The Patented Rope Anchor Makes Fitting Your Own Line Easy Warn's large-diameter aluminum-alloy drum uses a patented rope anchor the company calls the strongest on the market, designed for straightforward rope installation. On a bare-drum purchase that is the feature you use first.
7.83" Tall, Built to Hide Overall length 22.06", height 7.83", maximum front-to-back depth 6.73", because the control pack sits below the top of the tie plate. A 12,000 lb winch that fits hidden mounts, stubby bumpers and high-clearance bumpers is the XC's whole argument.
Mounting Flexibility Nothing Else Matches The remote socket relocates up to 9" from the control pack with no disassembly. The control pack can be moved off the winch entirely with Warn's relocation kits (PN 111872 for 31", PN 111991 for 78"). The motor rotates up to 90 degrees forward with the control pack following it, and the transmission clocks to five positions. XC fairleads work feet-down or feet-forward, so whichever one you buy, no separate offset version is needed.
Sealed to IP68 and IP69K O-ring rubber sealing runs through the complete winch, rated IP68 for submersion and IP69K for high-pressure spray, with corrosion-resistant black fasteners and a satin-black powder coat specified to 408 hours of salt spray.
Automatic Load-Holding Cone Brake A six-segment mechanical cone brake holds the load automatically, giving controlled, stoppable movement partway through a pull.
Fitment & Compatibility
Application
Fit
Custom builds where you supply your own rope and fairlead
Hidden winch mounts, stubby and high-clearance bumpers
✓ Yes, the XC envelope is built for it
Mid-size trucks and stock SUVs
● Works, but the XC 10 bare drum is the better size and price match
Buyers who want a ready-to-use kit out of the box
✗ No, choose the XC 12-S (synthetic) or XC 12 (steel) instead
Fit guidance: This is a universal-fit winch, not a vehicle-specific kit, and it is a WINCH ONLY: no rope, no fairlead, no hook. It uses the industry-standard 10" x 4.5" 4-bolt pattern and measures 22.06" long, 7.83" tall and 6.73" deep front to back. Warn's sizing guidance is roughly 1.5 times your vehicle's loaded weight, so 12,000 lb covers rigs up to about 8,000 lb. Order the line and fairlead as a pair: synthetic wants a hawse, steel wants a roller. The mount is also sold separately.

Installation
Type: Bolt-in to a winch mount, plate or bumper with the standard 10" x 4.5" 4-bolt pattern; wiring direct to the battery; rope and fairlead fitted by you · Time: About 1.5 to 2.5 hours, including fitting your own rope · Tools: Metric socket set, torque wrench, battery terminal wrench; gloves for handling line; a second person to lift the winch into the mount · Difficulty: Intermediate, DIY-friendly with basic electrical experience, plus one extra step over a roped winch
Fit your line first. Seat the rope in Warn's patented drum anchor per the instructions, then spool it on under light tension so the bottom wraps bed down evenly, which is what prevents a loaded outer wrap burying itself into loose layers later. Fit the fairlead that matches your line, hawse for synthetic and roller for steel. Then set the winch into the mount, torque the four bolts, route the 2 gauge battery leads clear of the exhaust and any moving steering or suspension parts, and position the remote socket, which relocates up to 9" without disassembly. At 488 amps of rated-load draw, confirm the battery meets the 650 CCA minimum, then cycle the winch in and out under no load.

About Warn
Warn Industries has been building vehicle recovery equipment since 1948, when the company's locking hub turned surplus military Jeeps into usable civilian vehicles. Winches followed, and for most of the last half-century a Warn winch has been the default answer on a truck bumper. Warn designs, tests and assembles its premium winches at its own ISO-quality facility in Clackamas, Oregon, and publishes real performance data, including line speed and motor current at every load point and pulling capacity at every drum layer, rather than a single headline number.
The ZEON XC is the compact member of that premium family, and Warn offers each capacity three ways: with steel rope, with Spydura synthetic rope, or as a bare drum like this one. The mechanism is identical across all three. It is built on the ZEON XD foundation but reshaped around an all-new low-profile control box that sits below the winch tie plate, with a bus bar connection to the motor and a Warn-exclusive low-profile Albright contactor. The remote socket relocates up to 9" from the control pack without disassembly, the control pack itself can be moved off the winch entirely with Warn's relocation kits, the motor rotates up to 90 degrees forward, and the transmission clocks to five positions. It carries a limited lifetime mechanical warranty and a seven-year electrical warranty through a global service network.
Prestige Truck is an authorized Warn dealer. Every winch we ship is new, factory-sealed, covered by the full Warn factory warranty, and supported by Warn's US-based service team and parts supply.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
Is there really no rope or fairlead included?
Correct. It is a winch only: no rope, no fairlead, no hook. You get the winch, a ruggedized corded remote with a 12' lead, mounting hardware and the manuals. If you want a ready-to-use kit at this capacity, the ZEON XC 12-S ships with 80' of Spydura Pro synthetic and an Epic hawse fairlead, and the ZEON XC 12 ships with 80' of steel and a roller fairlead.
What else do I need to order?
Line, a matching fairlead and an end fitting. Synthetic rope pairs with a hawse fairlead, steel wire rope pairs with a roller, and you will want a hook or a soft shackle. A winch mount or winch-capable bumper is separate too, as it is for every winch.
Does buying bare cost me anything mechanically?
No. The winch is identical to the roped ZEON XC 12 models: same 176:1 geartrain, same low-profile Albright control pack, same automatic cone brake, same IP68 and IP69K sealing, same 22.06" x 7.83" envelope. The only difference is what is on the drum and in the box.
What rope length should I fit?
Warn ships 80' of 3/8" line on both roped XC 12 versions, which is a sensible reference. Longer rope means more reach but more layers on the drum, and pulling power falls as the layers build: 12,000 lb on the first layer down to 6,483 lb on the fifth. Match the length to how you actually recover rather than buying the longest line that fits.
Will it fit behind a hidden or stubby bumper?
That is the XC's purpose: 7.83" tall with the control pack below the tie plate, against 10.52" for a full-height ZEON XD 12-S. Check the maximum winch dimensions published by your mount, size the fairlead opening for whichever fairlead you buy, and consider Warn's control pack relocation kits (PN 111872 for 31", PN 111991 for 78") for a fully concealed install.
Is wireless control available?
Not on the XC. It ships with a ruggedized corded remote on a 12' lead. Warn's HUB wireless receiver is built into the ZEON XD and ZEON XP control packs instead.

Look is great. 100 lbs
Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

A must have
I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.

The toolbox is nice. I
The toolbox is nice. I think Ill get a lot of years of service out of it. I like how the lid opens and the tie downs are a nice touch. It seems to be well built. And tough. Im pleased with my purchase and would buy another one.
