Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

What fluids can I put in this Weather Guard tank?

Diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid only. Weather Guard labels the 362-5-02 for diesel use and warns against gasoline or any other flammable liquid, because those are not safe in a vented steel transfer tank. Keep it to diesel and non-flammable hydraulic fluid.

Can I use this to run gasoline or as an auxiliary tank for my truck?

No. This is a transfer and storage tank, not a gasoline tank and not an auxiliary tank that plumbs into your truck's fuel system. It is built to carry diesel in the bed and pump it out to equipment or vehicles with a separate transfer pump. Always confirm the fuel rules in your state before hauling and dispensing.

Does it come with a pump?

No. The tank ships with the vented lockable filler cap and mounting hardware, but the transfer pump, hose, nozzle and filter are sold separately. The 2 in NPT port accepts most 12V diesel transfer pumps up to 30 pounds.

Will it fit my truck bed?

The L-shape footprint is about 49" wide by 37-5/8" deep by 27" tall and sits against the front bulkhead of a full-size bed. It drops easily into 6'6" and 8' beds and fits most short beds with room left over. Measure your bed and check clearance around the wheel wells first, and it is not recommended for mid-size or compact trucks.

How is the tank mounted?

It bolts down through a steel bed plate using rubber isolation bushings that cushion it from bed vibration. Plan to drill a few mounting holes, seal them with zinc-rich primer, and follow the included Weather Guard instructions. Most installs take one to two hours with basic hand tools.

Is the tank durable and is it covered by a warranty?

Yes. It is made in the USA from 12-gauge steel with an overlapping edge design and a gloss black ARMOR TUF powder coat that resists rust and chips, and it is backed by a Weather Guard Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
