Ford's 2018 vehicle guide also lists the widest point inside the 2015 to 2020 box at 65.2 in. The 2020, 2021 and 2026 sheets do not state a maximum width, so we do not give one for the 2021 to 2026 truck. Ford's 2026 sheet lists the Raptor's 5.5 ft box at 67.2 in on the floor, a tenth of an inch longer than the standard box.
2021 to 2026 F-150 (14th generation)
The newest truck offers the 5.5 ft box on the SuperCrew only. The 6.5 ft box is offered on every cab, and on Ford's 2026 sheet it is the only SuperCab box. The 8 ft box is a Regular Cab choice on the 2026 truck; Ford's 2021 sheet also lists it on the SuperCab.
Two factory options change which cover part you need rather than the bed size. Ford's Pro Access tailgate arrives with the 2024 model year and opens in two ways, including a side-hinged inner section. In our fitment data it matters only for one-piece lids, and we list no one-piece lid for a 6.5 ft bed with it. Raptors use the 5.5 ft box, but some covers list a separate Raptor part, so choose Raptor in the vehicle selector when yours is one. The F-150 Lightning is not in the Ford sheets we used for this table, so we give no Lightning dimensions here. Pick it in the selector and check the Lightning fit note on the part before you order: one Trifecta Signature 2.0 owner with a 2023 Lightning found that cover 1 to 2 in short. 2015 to 2020 F-150 (13th generation)
The earlier aluminum-body truck has the same three boxes and the same inside dimensions. The difference is the 8 ft box: Ford's 2018 guide lists it on the Regular Cab and SuperCab, while the 2020 sheet shows it as not available on the SuperCrew. Most cover brands build a separate part for 2015 to 2020 and 2021 to 2026, so a cover bought for one generation may not fit the other even when the bed length matches.

2009 to 2014 F-150 (12th generation)
We have no sourced Ford dimensions for this truck, so we do not print a table for it. Our fitment data lists 5'7", 6'7" and 8' cover sizes for 2009 to 2014 trucks (TruXedo calls the long box 8'1"), which tells you the three box lengths covers are built around. Why a cover listing shows a different size
Ford names each box in half-foot steps. Cover makers label it by its measured length instead. The 5.5 ft box is 67.1 in at the floor, which is 5 ft 7 in, so listings say 5'7". The 6.5 ft box is 78.9 in, close to 6 ft 7 in, so it is listed as 6'7".
The 8 ft box is where labels split. Ford lists 97.6 in. For 2015 to 2026 trucks, BAK, UnderCover, Extang and Retrax parts say 8', while TruXedo and Access parts say 8'2"; 8'1" shows up only on 2009 to 2014 TruXedo parts. Some BAK Revolver X4s parts say 6'6" for the 6.5 ft bed. Treat those as the same box: choose your year and cab in the selector and the cover maker's label is applied for you.

How to check your F-150 bed
- Clear the bed and close the tailgate. The cover's rear seal sits on the tailgate, so the tape ends there.
- Hook the tape on the front bed wall at rail height and pull it back along the rail to the tailgate's inner face. Do both sides and use the shorter reading.
- Divide by 12 and match the nearest size: about 67 in is the 5.5 ft box, about 79 in is the 6.5 ft box and about 98 in is the 8 ft box.

6.5 ft bed: the box on every cab

8 ft bed: the long box
Fewer covers come in an 8 ft F-150 part than in the shorter sizes, but the long box still has soft roll-ups, hard folders, hard roll-ups and retractables to choose from. What fits in an F-150 bed
The 50.6 in between the wheel wells is the number that decides sheet goods. A 4 by 8 sheet of plywood is 48 in wide, so it lies flat between the wells on every 2015 to 2026 box. The 8 ft box is 97.6 in long at the floor, which is longer than a 96 in sheet, so a full sheet fits with the tailgate up. On the 5.5 and 6.5 ft boxes the sheet still lies flat between the wells, but its 96 in length runs past the 67.1 or 78.9 in floor, so carry it with the tailgate down and tie it in.
Volume is the other figure worth comparing. The 6.5 ft box holds 62.3 cu ft against 52.8 cu ft for the 5.5 ft, a gain of 9.5 cu ft.
