Truck Bed Size Chart: Every Pickup, 2019 to 2026
Quick answer
Most full-size pickups offer three beds: a short bed of about 5.5 ft, a standard bed of about 6.5 ft and a long bed of about 8 ft. Mid-size trucks use a 5 ft or 6 ft bed, and the Ford Maverick has a 4.5 ft bed. Measured inside at the floor, 2026 beds run from 54.4 in (Ford Maverick) to 98.3 in (Ram 2500 and 3500 8' box).

How to read the chart
Every row lists the same four inside measurements, taken the way the makers take them. The letters match the table columns further down.
- Length at the floorAlong the floor, from the front wall's inside face to the inside of the shut tailgate. Makers quote this number first.
- Between the wheel wellsThe narrowest gap across the floor. It decides whether a 4 ft wide sheet or a wide load lies flat.
- Widest at the floorWall to wall, measured ahead of or behind the wheel wells.
- DepthFrom the floor up to the top of the bed rail, on the inside.
Every 2026 bed, side by side
The bars put every bed sold for the 2026 model year on one scale, so a mid-size 6 ft bed can be read against a half-ton short bed at a glance. Hover over or tap a bar for its width and depth.
Truck bed size chart by maker
Each table runs newest first. One row is one bed, with the cabs it comes on, the four measurements in inches and the size cover listings use for it. Pick your truck in the finder to highlight its rows. Not published means the maker's sheet leaves that number out.

Why cover listings use a different bed size
Makers name beds in round numbers. Cover listings name them by a measured size instead. Ford calls the F-150 short box a 5.5 ft box. Its floor runs 67.1 in, or 5 ft 7 in, and that is the size F-150 covers for it are sold under: 5'7". GM calls the 2019 to 2026 Silverado 1500 short bed a 5'8" box, yet it measures 69.9 in at the floor, so covers for it are listed as 5'8" or 5'10".
The listing size is a name for the bed, not a number to check with a tape. Toyota quotes 65.6 in at the floor for the 2022 to 2026 Tundra 5.5 ft bed, yet covers for it are listed as 5'7". Go by your truck's year, cab and bed name, and the vehicle selector on each cover page shows the parts made for that bed.

Will a 4x8 sheet of plywood fit?
A 4x8 sheet is 48 in wide, so it lies flat on the floor only when the gap between the wheel wells (B) is at least 48 in. Every full-size and heavy-duty bed in the 2026 lineup clears that. Most mid-size beds do not: the Tacoma, Colorado, Canyon, Frontier and Gladiator sit between 44.5 and 45.5 in. The Ranger (48.2 in) and the Ridgeline (50.0 in) are the mid-size exceptions on paper, and the Ranger has very little to spare.
Length is the other half. Only beds of 96 in or more at the floor take the full 8 ft sheet with the tailgate shut. On anything shorter, the end of the sheet rests on the open tailgate, so strap it down well.

How to measure your own bed
- With the tailgate shut, measure along the bed floor from the front wall to the tailgate. That is A, the number this chart compares.
- Measure straight across the floor at the narrowest point between the wheel wells for B, then wall to wall ahead of them for C.
- Stand the tape on the floor against a side wall and read it level with the top of the rail. That is D, the depth.
A drop-in liner or mat takes a little off every figure, so measure the bare bed when you can. If you are measuring for a cover, our tonneau cover measuring guide covers the cover side step by step.

Frequently asked questions
What are the standard truck bed sizes?
Full-size pickups come in three: a short bed near 5.5 ft, a standard bed near 6.5 ft and a long bed near 8 ft. Mid-size trucks offer about 5 ft and 6 ft, the Ridgeline has a single bed of 64.0 in (5 ft 4 in) and the Maverick has a 4.5 ft bed. The exact floor length for each truck is in the chart above.
What trucks have a 4.5 ft bed?
Among the trucks in this chart, only the Ford Maverick. Ford lists its FLEXBED at 54.4 in long at the floor and 42.6 in between the wheel wells.
Are 1500 and 2500 beds the same size?
Not always. Ram comes closest: the 6'4" box measures 76.3 in at the floor and 51.0 in between the wheel wells on the 1500, against 76.3 in and 51.0 in on the 2500 and 3500. GM and Ford heavy-duty boxes are longer. The 2020 to 2026 Silverado HD standard box is 82.2 in against 79.4 in for the Silverado 1500 standard box, and the Super Duty 6.75 ft box is 81.9 in against 78.9 in for the F-150 6.5 ft box.
Will a 1500 tonneau cover fit a 2500?
Sometimes. Because Ram's 6'4" box matches across the range, many covers for it are one part that fits the older Ram 1500, the Ram 1500 Classic and the 2500 and 3500. On GM and Ford trucks the heavy-duty standard box is longer than the half-ton one (82.2 in against 79.4 in on the Silverado), so those take their own covers. Either way, go by the cover's fit list: pick your truck and bed in the vehicle selector and only matching covers show.
What is the longest bed on a 2026 half-ton pickup?
The 8 ft class beds. At the floor, Chevy and GMC list 98.2 in for the Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 long box, Ford lists 97.6 in for the F-150 8 ft box and Toyota lists 96.5 in for the Tundra 8.1 ft bed. The 2026 Ram 1500 comes with the 5'7" and 6'4" boxes only.
Which truck bed is widest between the wheel wells?
Among maker figures for 2026 beds, Ram's: 51.0 in between the wheel wells on every 1500, 2500 and 3500 box. Most full-size beds sit between 48 and 52 in, while mid-size beds run from about 44 to 46 in, with the Ranger and Ridgeline as the wider exceptions.
Is a 6.5 ft bed the same length on every truck?
No, the name is rounded. At the floor, the F-150 6.5 ft box is 78.9 in, the Tundra 6.5 ft bed is 77.6 in, the Ram 6'4" box is 76.3 in and the 2019 to 2026 Silverado 1500 standard box is 79.4 in. That spread is one reason covers are listed truck by truck.
How do I find out which bed my truck has?
Your window sticker or build sheet names the box, and the cab narrows it down, since most crew cabs come with the shorter beds. You can also measure the floor (A) and match it to your truck's rows above, or pick your year, make and model in the bed finder at the top of this page.
How we built this chart
Every figure comes from the automakers' own published spec sheets, brochures and media pages, read by our team in October 2026. Each number is printed as the maker gives it, in inches, without rounding or converting. Where a maker leaves a measurement out, the chart says Not published rather than filling the gap. Where no maker sheet could be found for a generation, the row uses a published spec table from a major auto outlet and carries a dagger (†).
A row spans the model years of its generation. Where we read the sheet for only one of those years, the source list below names that sheet. Cover listing sizes come from the fitment lists of the covers we sell. If a number does not match your truck, tell us and we will check it against the maker's sheet.
