How we made this guide: picks and specs come from our catalog and fitment data, owner quotes come from verified reviews and the guide was drafted with AI help, then checked and edited by Trevor Hall.
The Jeep Gladiator comes with one bed, a 5-ft box that is 60.3 inches long with the tailgate closed and 81.3 inches with it open. Jeep lists 44.8 inches between the wheelhouses and 35.5 cubic feet of space, and it sells the box only on the crew cab. Covers we carry for it start at $339.99 for a soft folding cover and $899.99 for a hard folding one.
Jeep Gladiator bed dimensions
These figures come from Stellantis spec sheets for the 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2026 Gladiator, which print the same box numbers. Published spec tables for the 2020, 2022 and 2025 trucks match, so the box has not changed.
| Measurement | Jeep Gladiator (JT), 2020 to 2026 |
|---|---|
| Box name | 5-ft box, crew cab |
| Length, tailgate closed | 60.3 in |
| Length, tailgate open | 81.3 in |
| Between the wheelhouses | 44.8 in |
| Cargo width | 56.8 in |
| Tailgate opening width | 50 in |
| Volume | 35.5 cu ft |
| Depth | Not published |
Two of those numbers need a caution. The 56.8 in width is Jeep's cargo-width figure, and Jeep does not say it is taken at the floor, so do not plan a load around it. Jeep also prints no bed depth, so we do not give one; a depth you see elsewhere is not Jeep's figure. A tape measure in your own bed is the only way to get it.

The 2020 to 2026 Gladiator: one box
Every Gladiator sold since the 2020 model year has the same box, so there is no short bed or long bed to choose between. Cover makers agree: all 34 Gladiator cover listings we carry use one size, 5', for 2020 to 2026 and in five cases 2020 to 2027. So the real choices are the cover type and the Trail Rail System.
Jeep lists a 56.8 in cargo width but only 44.8 in between the wheelhouses, so plan any load that lies flat on the floor past the wheelhouses around 44.8 in, not 56.8. The 50 in tailgate opening is the width you have to get a load through.
Is a Gladiator bed bigger than a Tacoma's?
Not by length. Toyota lists the 2024 to 2026 Tacoma 5-ft bed at 60.3 inches inside, the same as the Gladiator's 60.3 with the tailgate closed, and 44.7 inches between the wheel wells against 44.8. The 2016 to 2023 Tacoma 5-ft bed is 60.5 inches. The Tacoma also comes with a 6-ft bed; the Gladiator does not. For every Tacoma bed, see our Tacoma bed size guide.
Why covers list the Gladiator bed as 5'
Jeep calls it a 5-ft box and cover makers write it as 5', so the label and Jeep's 60.3 in are close. Still, buy by model year as well as size. For the Gladiator, pick your model year (most parts list 2020 to 2026, five list 2020 to 2027), then check the next point.
Trail Rail: the one option that changes the part
Some Gladiators have the factory Trail Rail System in the bed. Four of the 30 cover series we carry for the Gladiator have a Trail Rail note. The Roll-N-Lock M-Series and M-Series XT each have one part built for the Trail Rail System and one not compatible with it, and the XT parts leave out cross bars and racks. One LOMAX Hard Tri-Fold part is for trucks without it and one Access LiteRider listing is for trucks with it. The rest have no Trail Rail note, and the BAKFlip MX4 is listed for trucks with or without Trail Rails.
To check, look at the front wall and both sides of the bed. Jeep describes it as an adjustable tie-down system on the front wall and both bed sides: tracks with cleats that slide along them. It is an option, so trucks of the same year can differ. If your truck has it and the cover has a Trail Rail note, buy the part built for it. If not, buy the part for trucks without it. If the selector shows a single part for your truck, order that one.
How to check your bed
- Close the tailgate and run a tape along the top of a bed rail from the inside face of the bulkhead to the inside face of the tailgate.
- Check that the reading lands near 5', the only size the covers we carry list for the Gladiator.
- Confirm your model year and whether the Trail Rail System is fitted.
Our guide to measuring a truck bed walks through each step, and our truck bed size chart lines the Gladiator up against other trucks.
Will a 4x8 sheet of plywood fit?
Not on the floor, but yes on top of the wheelhouses. A 4x8 sheet is 48 inches wide and the Gladiator has 44.8 inches between the wheelhouses, so the sheet cannot lie flat on the bed floor. Jeep built the tailgate to stop in three positions, and the middle one lets a full sheet ride flat across the tops of the wheelhouses with its back edge on the tailgate. Owners often lay 2x4s across the wheelhouses first for a flat base. The sheet is 96 inches long and the box 81.3 inches with the gate fully open, so the end hangs past it: flag it and strap it down.
Covers that fit the Gladiator bed
We carry 30 cover series for the Gladiator, all listed as 5' for 2020 to 2026, with each price below the From price for that truck. Browse every part on our Jeep Gladiator tonneau covers page or the full tonneau covers range. These four show the main types. Leaks come up in owner reviews of all four covers here, so treat each as water-resistant rather than watertight.

BAKFlip MX4

Hard folding
BAKFlip MX4 Hard Folding Tonneau Cover
From $1,249.99 · Folds flat to the cab for the whole 5-ft box and carries 400 lb evenly spread.
The MX4 is a hard folding cover with aluminum panels over a polymer core and a clamp-on install with no drilling. The spec sheet lists about 30 minutes to fit. One Gladiator Mojave owner wrote:
“I love this cover. It looks good, it’s durable, and it was an easy install that took about 45 minutes. I do recommend a second set of hands or a pair of clamps to assist you. This cover is not recommended for soft tops, however I’ve had no issues.”
BAKFlip MX4 owner · 5 out of 5 stars
The maker lists the MX4's Gladiator part as not recommended for soft tops, so check the fit note first if yours has one.

BAK Revolver X4s

Hard roll-up
BAK Revolver X4s Hard Roll-Up Tonneau Cover
From $1,479.99 · Rolls forward onto a spool at the bulkhead and leaves the whole box open.
A roll-up leaves no folded stack in the bed. An owner moving from a factory soft roll-up said:
“I had an OEM soft roll up cover previously on the gladiator but the wind would lift it up in the middle and pull it out from the truck bed. I switched over to the BAK revolver X4s and definitely don't have that problem anymore.”

Extang Trifecta 2.0

Soft folding
Extang Trifecta 2.0 Soft Folding Tonneau Cover
From $519.99 · A soft folding cover that lifts off without tools for tall loads.
Folding it forward opens about two-thirds of the bed, and lifting it off opens the rest. A Gladiator owner reported the install needed tools:
“You will need an Allen wrench and torque bits for the Gladiator install. I was able to finish in about a half hour.”

Roll-N-Lock M-Series

Retractable
Roll-N-Lock M-Series Retractable Tonneau Cover
From $1,699.99 · Slats retract into a canister and lock at three positions; pick the Trail Rail or non-Trail Rail part.
This is the cover with the two Trail Rail parts, so read the fit note before you order. On most parts the closed, locked cover also holds the tailgate shut, but some owners of newer M-Series XT covers say theirs no longer latch to the tailgate, so check the install sheet and keep the tailgate locked. Frequently asked questions
How long is a Jeep Gladiator bed?
Jeep lists the box at 60.3 inches with the tailgate closed and 81.3 inches with it open. It is the only bed length offered, a 5-ft box on the crew cab.
What bed options are available for the Jeep Gladiator?
One. The 2020 to 2026 Gladiator has the 5-ft box and no long-bed version, so covers are sold in a single 5' size. The choice you do have is whether the truck has the factory Trail Rail System.
How deep is the Gladiator bed?
Jeep does not publish a bed depth, so we do not give one. Measure from the bed floor to the top of the rail if you need the number.
Will a 4x8 sheet of plywood fit in a Jeep Gladiator?
Yes, on top of the wheelhouses, not on the floor. The sheet is 48 inches wide against 44.8 inches between the wheelhouses, so set the tailgate in its middle stop and lay the sheet across the wheelhouse tops. At 96 inches it is longer than the 81.3 inch box with the tailgate open, so the end overhangs.
Is a Jeep Gladiator bed bigger than a Tacoma's?
Not on length. The Gladiator's 60.3 in matches Toyota's 2024 to 2026 Tacoma 5-ft bed and is 0.2 in short of the 2016 to 2023 one, and the Tacoma also comes with a 6-ft bed.
Does a tonneau cover fit with the Trail Rail System?
Check the fit note. Most covers we carry for the Gladiator list no Trail Rail restriction, and the BAKFlip MX4 is listed for trucks with or without it. The Roll-N-Lock M-Series and M-Series XT come in one part built for the Trail Rail System and one that is not compatible, so pick the one that matches your bed.
