Every cover on this page fits the Nissan Frontier. Pick your year and bed in the selector to see the exact part, because no single part here fits both a 2021 and a 2022 Frontier.
Nissan has built the Frontier with two bed lengths since 2005: 5 ft on most Crew Cabs and 6 ft on King Cabs and long-bed Crew Cabs. Brands build separate parts for 2005 to 2021 and 2022 to 2026 trucks, so match your model year before your bed.

Utili-track, rail caps and sport bars
Nissan's Utili-track is a set of C-shaped channels with sliding tie-down cleats. On 2005 to 2021 trucks there are two in the floor, one along each side and one across the front wall. Not every Frontier has it, and it changes some parts: UnderCover builds its 2005 to 2021 Flex with and without the track, and Roll-N-Lock's M-Series and M-Series XT need it to install on 2022 to 2026 5 ft beds. Clamps can also crowd the cleats, as one 2024 owner found:
“Clamps that hold the cover down are in the way of the track system built into the bed. Stock tie-down track lugs and bed extender can't be slid past the clamps.”

On 2005 to 2021 trucks, Extang lists its Solid Fold ALX, Endure ALX and Trifecta e-Series parts for beds with the factory side bed rail caps only. On 2022 and 2023 trucks, TruXedo and UnderCover list every part for beds without the factory sport bars, and no cover here lists a part for a bed with them. No cover has a separate PRO-4X part.
Choosing a cover for the Frontier
The 2022 to 2026 Crew Cab's 5 ft bed has the widest choice here at 38 series, and on a bed that short the front of the floor matters. The BAKFlip MX4 ($1,199.99) folds flush against the cab to open the whole 5 ft floor and carries 400 lb. A retractable gives up length to its canister: Roll-N-Lock puts the M-Series ($1,699.99) canister at 7.25 inches, about an eighth of the bed, for a cover that locks in three positions.
The 6 ft bed has 23 series on 2022 to 2026 trucks, with no one-piece lid, no Access roll-up and four retractables, all from Retrax. On that bed the RetraxONE MX ($1,549.99) locks at any point but is rated for 200 lb, while the RetraxPRO MX ($2,149.99) steps up to double-wall aluminum slats, 500 lb and a limited lifetime warranty. They are also the only retractables here for 2005 to 2021 trucks.
For a rooftop tent or bed rack on a 2022 to 2026 Frontier, seven series with T-slot rails fit the 5 ft bed and four fit the 6 ft bed, starting with the TruXedo Pro X15 TS ($669.99). A 2023 owner of the BAKFlip MX4 TS ($1,449.99, 5 ft bed only) likes having the option to add a rack later, but two owners of 2025 trucks report the BAK Revolver X4 TS ($1,549.99) comes up short at the tailgate. On 2005 to 2021 trucks the X4 TS fits both beds and the Pro X15 TS fits the 6 ft bed.
Every soft cover here starts under $700 on the Frontier, beginning with the Extang Trifecta e-Series ($339.99). Access adds four soft roll-ups for the 2022 to 2026 5 ft bed, from the TonnoSport ($413), but none for the 6 ft bed.
Brands we carry for the Frontier
Seven of the nine brands here build for both generations, while Roll-N-Lock and Pace Edwards list only the 2022 to 2026 5 ft bed. The table shows one or more series from each.
From is the starting price for a Frontier part in each series, which runs from $339.99 for the Trifecta e-Series to $2,800.34 for the electric BedLocker.
The Extang Trifecta 2.0 ($469.99) lists both beds on 2005 to 2021 and 2022 to 2026 trucks and clamps on by hand with no drilling. Owners of 2012 to 2018 Frontiers report installs of 5 to 15 minutes, and a 2017 owner says the bed stayed dry through rain and snow. Skip it if a rack or rooftop tent will ride on top, since the spec sheet lists no load rating.
Extang rates the Solid Fold ALX ($1,199.99) for 600 lb on the closed panels, and it lists both beds in both generations. A PRO-4X owner who carries a rooftop tent on separate bed bars says it leaves room for the bar brackets. Skip it if you need the whole bed open (it folds to two-thirds) or if your 2005 to 2021 truck lacks the factory side bed rail caps Extang requires.
On both beds from 2005 to 2026, the BAK Revolver X4s ($1,399.99) locks its slats into rotational rails along both sides and carries BAK's Level-3 security rating. A Frontier owner on a second Revolver calls it enough to deter an opportunistic thief and reports very little water at the tailgate in heavy rain. Skip it if you want rack rails: the RetraxPRO XR adds them on 2022 to 2026 trucks.
The RetraxPRO XR ($2,299.99) puts full-length T-slot rails on the 2022 to 2026 5 ft and 6 ft beds and is rated for 500 lb on double-wall aluminum slats, with a limited lifetime warranty. Skip it if your Frontier is a 2005 to 2021, where the BAK Revolver X4 TS is the rack-ready hard cover for either bed.
The whole bed opens
The BAKFlip MX4 ($1,199.99) folds flat against the cab, so a 5 ft Crew Cab bed gives up no floor to a canister.
Holds open at any point
On 2005 to 2021 and 2022 to 2026 beds, the RetraxPRO MX ($2,149.99) holds open at any point, carries 500 lb and drains through integrated tubes.
Sits 3/4 inch above the rails
TruXedo mounts the Lo Pro ($519.99) rails inside the bed, so the closed cover sits 3/4 inch above the bed rails on 2005 to 2026 Frontiers.
Frontier tonneau cover FAQs
What bed size does my Frontier have?
Crew Cabs have the 5 ft bed unless they are long-bed Crew Cabs, which share the King Cab's 6 ft bed, on 2005 to 2021 and 2022 to 2026 trucks alike. Measure inside at the floor from the front wall to the closed tailgate: Nissan lists 59.5 and 73.3 inches for the 2005 to 2021 beds, and the 2022 to 2026 beds measure about the same. Then pick that bed in the selector, where some brands list the older 5 ft bed as 4'11".
Can I still use my Utili-track cleats with a cover?
Mostly, though a cover can take up part of the track. A RetraxONE MX owner with Utili-track says the channel on the front wall is lost while the side channels still work, and a 2010 Frontier owner fitted a BAKFlip G2 by clamping its rails just above the track. Access lists the Lorado, Original and LiteRider for beds with or without the track, as Extang does for its 2022 to 2026 5 ft Endure ALX.
Will the cover from my old Frontier fit a 2022 or newer?
No. Brands list separate parts for 2005 to 2021 and 2022 to 2026 trucks, even where the bed length matches, so a cover bought for a 2019 is not listed for a 2022. Many series cover both generations, though, including the BAKFlip MX4, RetraxPRO MX and Extang Trifecta 2.0, so you can stay with a cover you liked.
Does a bedliner change which cover I can use?
A spray-in liner, including the factory one Nissan has offered alongside the Utili-track, needs no changes for the Roll-N-Lock M-Series. A drop-in plastic liner does: Roll-N-Lock says to cut it back so the canister and drain tubes fit, and UnderCover says it may need trimming so the Elite's brackets sit flat on 2022 to 2026 5 ft beds. UnderCover's Flex, Ultra Flex and ArmorFlex clamp inside the Frontier's bed rails, so a liner lip folded over the rail can block a clamp.
Will a tonneau cover keep my Frontier bed dry?
Mostly, going by Frontier owners in our reviews. A 2017 owner with an Extang Trifecta 2.0 reports a dry bed through rain and snow, while a 2023 owner says the BAKFlip MX4 TS keeps the bed 99% dry with a few drops at the tailgate. Fit the drain tubes where a cover has them: a BAKFlip G2 owner who skipped them on a Frontier saw a little water in hard rain.
