Chevy Silverado 1500 Tonneau Covers & Bed Covers
Every cover on this page fits a Chevy Silverado 1500, from 1999 to 2026 trucks. Pick your year and bed in the selector to see the exact part, because the 2019 redesign changed which covers fit.
Cover makers disagree on what to call the Silverado's short bed. BAK, UnderCover, Extang, Retrax and Pace Edwards list it as 5'8", while TruXedo, Access and Roll-N-Lock call it 5'10". On a 2019 to 2026 truck, the floor length from the front wall to the closed tailgate tells the three beds apart.

The 2019 redesign brought a new box with a floor up to nearly 7 inches wider, and the brands here make separate parts for 2014 to 2018 and 2019 to 2026 trucks. On older parts, 5'9" takes the place of 5'10". An owner who moved up to a 2019 truck found out the simple way:
“Installation was quick and easy and the fit is perfect on my all new 2019 Silverado. This is my second Extang cover. I had the first one for seven years and it was still in great shape, however, it wouldn't fit my new Silverado.”

The 2019 Silverado 1500 LD, the old Double Cab sold alongside the new truck, takes 2014 to 2018 parts, which listings mark Legacy (2018 Body Style) or LD. The 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD kept the 2019 to 2021 body and takes those trucks' covers. For a 2007, check the body: the Classic kept the 1999 to 2006 truck and takes its covers.
Multi-Flex tailgate, side boxes and cargo tracks
Chevy added the Multi-Flex tailgate during the 2021 model year, and it changes the part for some covers (see the FAQ below). Owners of GM trucks with these tailgates also report that the grab handle bolted inside the bed near the tailgate can crowd a cover's rear clamps. GM's bed-side storage boxes rule out every 2019 to 2026 Roll-N-Lock and Access part, the Retrax EQ and Pace Edwards' short-bed covers.
On 2007 to 2013 trucks, look for the factory cargo management system. TruXedo's Lo Pro and Deuce are listed only for beds without it. So are the Pace Edwards retractables and UnderCover's Flex, Ultra Flex and ArmorFlex.
Choosing a cover for the Silverado 1500
Crew Cab short beds get the widest choice: 54 of the 57 series that fit 2019 to 2026 trucks list the short bed. On 69.9 inches of floor, full access matters: the BAK Revolver X4s ($1,399.99) rolls onto a spool at the front of the bed and the BAKFlip MX4 ($1,199.99) folds flush against the cab. The RetraxONE MX ($1,549.99) locks at any point along its rails but parks a canister at the front wall, and Retrax rates it for 200 lb against 500 lb for the RetraxPRO MX.
Regular Cab work trucks with the long bed have 18 series to pick from for 2019 to 2026, with no one-piece lid and nothing from UnderCover. Only two retractables fit that bed: the RetraxPRO MX ($2,149.99) and the Roll-N-Lock M-Series ($1,699.99). The Extang Solid Fold Toolbox 2.0 ($1,249.99) is built short so a crossover toolbox can sit ahead of it, on 2019 to 2026 6'6" and 8' beds.
For a bed rack or bike mounts, nine series with T-slot rails fit 2019 to 2026 trucks. The BAKFlip MX4 TS ($1,449.99) is the folding choice, the RetraxPRO XR ($2,299.99) pairs its rails with double-wall aluminum slats rated for 500 lb, and the Retrax EQ ($2,799.99) opens from the key fob. On the long bed only the BAK Revolver X4 TS ($1,549.99) and TruXedo Pro X15 TS ($669.99) have T-slot parts. No cover here lists a separate part for the Trail Boss or ZR2, so match year and bed as usual.
The entry-level picks for a 2019 to 2026 truck are the Extang Trifecta e-Series ($339.99) and TruXedo TruXport ($349.99). Both are soft covers, and the Extang Trifecta 2.0 ($469.99) adds a part for the long bed.
Brands we carry for the Silverado 1500
All nine tonneau brands we carry build covers for the Silverado 1500, and 57 of the 59 series here fit a 2019 to 2026 truck.
Prices on this truck run from $339.99 for a Trifecta e-Series to $2,949.99 for the electric PowerTraxPRO XR, and your year, bed and tailgate set the exact part.
The Extang Trifecta 2.0 ($469.99) fits all three 2019 to 2026 beds, clamps on with no drilling and folds to open two-thirds of the bed or lifts off for all of it. A 2019 Crew Cab owner reports only a few drops at the tailgate after eight car washes. Skip it if your bed has the Multi-Flex grab handle and you want an easy fit: one owner of a GM truck with that tailgate found the handle sits right where the rear clamp has to grab.
Best Silverado 1500 cover for the Multi-Flex tailgate
TruXedo makes the Pro X15 ($599.99) in separate 5'10" and 6'7" parts for trucks with and without the Multi-Flex tailgate. Its five-layer woven top stays taut on spring tension in the front header, and the angled rails let it sit nearly level with the bed caps. Skip it if you want a hard lid: UnderCover's Elite and Elite LX are the one-piece covers with Multi-Flex parts.
The RetraxPRO XR ($2,299.99) has full-length T-slot rails, a 500 lb rating and a limited lifetime warranty on 2019 to 2026 5'8" and 6'6" beds. A 2020 Trail Boss owner rates it highly but found the drain tubes too large for the factory drain holes. Skip it if you have the long bed: the BAK Revolver X4 TS is the only hard cover with T-slot rails and a 2019 to 2026 8 ft part.
The BAK Revolver X4s ($1,399.99) has a 2019 to 2026 8 ft part and rolls onto a spool at the front of the bed, so the long bed opens end to end with no canister in the way. BAK rates it for 400 lb and gives it a Level-3 security rating. Skip it if you drive with the cover part open: an owner with an 8 ft Chevy bed misses being able to, though the ease of use outweighs it.
Opens from the key fob
The Retrax EQ ($2,799.99) rolls open from the truck's key fob or the Retrax phone app, and its 2022 to 2026 Silverado parts need OnStar fitted, though not a subscription.
600 lb rating, long bed included
Extang rates the Solid Fold ALX ($1,199.99) for 600 lb spread evenly, and it is one of four hard folding covers with a 2019 to 2026 8 ft part.
Opens the whole bed
The BAKFlip MX4 ($1,199.99) folds flush against the cab to clear all of the bed, and BAK makes it for the 5'8", 6'6" and 8' beds on 2019 to 2026 trucks.
Silverado 1500 tonneau cover FAQs
What bed length does my Silverado 1500 have?
On 2019 to 2026 trucks, a Crew Cab has the short or standard bed, a Double Cab has the standard bed and a Regular Cab has the long bed or, in some years, the standard bed. Measured inside at the floor they run about 70, 79 and 98 inches. Covers list the short bed as 5'8" or 5'10", the standard as 6'6" or 6'7" and the long as 8' or 8'2", so choose by bed in the selector rather than by the label.
Do covers work with the Multi-Flex tailgate?
Yes, but some need the Multi-Flex version. TruXedo's Pro X15 and most Access roll-ups come in separate parts for trucks with and without it, and UnderCover's Elite and Elite LX lids have Multi-Flex parts while its LUX and SE are listed only for trucks without it. Roll-N-Lock lists its 2019 to 2026 retractables as working either way, and Retrax says the same for the EQ. Check that the rear clamps clear the grab handle near your tailgate.
Will a Silverado 1500 cover fit a 2500 HD?
Only on some generations. Many 2014 to 2018 parts, such as the BAKFlip MX4 and Extang Solid Fold ALX in 6'6" and 8', also list the 2015 to 2019 2500 HD and 3500 HD. From 2019 on the beds part ways, since the 2020 and newer HD's standard bed is listed as 6'9" or 6'10". The long bed is the exception: TruXedo's and Roll-N-Lock's 8'2" parts fit both the 1500 and the 2020 to 2026 HD.
Will a tonneau cover keep my Silverado bed dry?
Mostly. TruXedo and UnderCover describe their covers as highly weather resistant rather than waterproof, and most Silverado owners in our reviews report a dry bed or a few drops at the tailgate after rain or a car wash. Leaks that owners do report tend to come in at the front corners or where a cover sits short of the tailgate. Retractables carry water out through drain tubes, but owners of 2020 and 2021 trucks say the supplied hoses were too big for the factory drain holes, so expect to step them down or run them under a bed mat.
How long does it take to install a cover on a Silverado?
About 30 minutes to an hour for most clamp-on covers. BAK puts the BAKFlip MX4 at about 30 minutes, and Extang and Retrax quote under an hour for theirs. Silverado owners report about 20 minutes for a BAKFlip F1 and an hour for a RetraxONE MX with a second person to lift it, and UnderCover asks for two people to set its one-piece lids.
